#MIHEA2019

Hello Students and Alumni,

I am looking forward to meeting you. We have some truly awesome companies who cannot wait to meet you.

Registration will be open until the morning of November 5th for any students who have yet to register.

The registration fee covers parking, lunch with a keynote speaker, afternoon break out snack, round table breakout sessions and access to over 30 companies who will interview for full time, internships, and part-time positions. Bring plenty of professional resumes and dress to impress!

8:00am – 9:00am is check-in.  The check-in desk for students will be located in the Eberhard Center, on the 2nd floor at the top of the stairs. Business professional attire is required. Bring extra resumes just in case. Be sure to arrive as early as possible to get your interview slots set up.

The marketplace (where you sign up for you interviews) is open from 9:00am-11:00am. After this time, the companies are unavailable unless you have scheduled an interview with them during the morning session. Attendance to the "Marketplace" is required in order to interview. Research the companies prior to your arrival by clicking on Registered Company Info from the MIHEA homepage. The "Marketplace" is for discussing potential opportunities, not for finding out what the companies are about or what services they offer.

Lunch will be provided at 11:00 am in the Hall of Fame, outside the Multipurpose Room. During lunch, our stellar keynote speaker, Tom Bartholomew from The Homestead Resort will be presenting Three Keys to Success.

The Kent County Hospitality Association is not only sponsoring our afternoon snack, but also new this year they will be hosting round table breakout sessions for students to attend in-between interviews. Topics include: Interview Tips - Elevator Speech, Resume, Attire, Attitude; Resume Review - Critique, Online Posting, Job Boards; Business Toolkit - Business Card, Resume, Linked-In, ePortfolio and Networking - KCHA, CTA, Women in Leadership, MC4T, Diversity & Inclusion.

Please remember that this an opportunity to network with other hospitality students who will soon be your colleagues in industry. We also have an awesome group of students and faculty coming from Morehouse College located in Atlanta, Georgia. Experience GR is hosting them in Grand Rapids for a few days and we are honored to have them attending the MIHEA Career and Internship Fair. Please show them just how welcoming Michigan folks are.

Common areas are available for quiet preparation for your interviews in the West Gallery and East Lobby. You may find yourself with open time frames in-between interviews, so you may want to bring some study materials and don't forget to join in on the round table sessions. There is a coat rack available; however, there is no secured storage for bags or personal items.
